Gruha Jyothi

The Gruha Jyothi Scheme in Telangana offers free electricity up to 200 units per month to eligible households. Under this scheme, households consuming 200 units or less monthly receive zero electricity bills.  Any consumption exceeding 200 units will be charged at the regular tariff.

Key details:

• Eligibility: The scheme benefits low-income group households and ration card holders.
• Implementation: The scheme is implemented by the Telangana State Government.
• Applications: Applications are processed through Praja Palana or approved channels, with details entered on the Praja Palana portal.
• Aadhaar Card: A valid Aadhaar card and a linked valid Food Security Card (white ration card) are required for registration.
• Billing: Discoms will generate bills in the name of the recorded service connection holder, not changing the name based on the Food Security Card for the purpose of the scheme.
• Subsidy: The government releases subsidy amounts to DISCOMS to cover the cost of free electricity.
